How to setup Gmail sync on BlackBerry Z10
A few users have been getting in touch with us regarding Gmail calendar syncing issues on their shiny new BlackBerry Z10 devices. Fortunately, our Agents have a workaround if you're having these issues on you handset. Agent Clarke takesyou through the fix process in a few simple steps.
Please note - Google have now disabled the option to sync contacts and calendars through their exchange service and this solution may not work in your region depending on Google's current configuration within your territory.
If your BlackBerry 10 Smartphone displays throws up the following error when integrating your Gmail account, you're not the only one don't worry!
"Your email and contacts accounts were successfully added. At this time, the email@example.com/events server is unavailable and your calendar account can't be added. Please try again later."
Other users have experienced a second issue crop up when trying to edit Gmail accounts on the device too:
Fortunately, there is a workaround for this issue that involves setting you account up as an ActiveSync account. This will give you all the functionality you need to get all those lovely Google services back up and running. The following is taken directly from BlackBerry's own support system.
- Swipe down from the top bezel
- Select Settings
- Select Accounts
- Select Add Account
- Select Advanced at the bottom of the screen
- Select Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync
- Complete all desired and required fields - Server address: m.google.com and Port:443
- Select Next
- Select your desired personal information items for synchronization
