Why I love Apple TV
Date: June 15 2010
Agent Mike Jordan reveals why Apple TV is such a very under-rated gadget.
I absolutely adore Apple TV. At the minute, I'd go as far as to say it's my favourite gadget of all-time.
The funny thing about Apple TV though is that it hasn't caught on as well as their other products, but it is still truly fantastic. More people just need to hear and know about it.
You connect Apple TV to your iMac or MacBook through the wireless router in your home. Then you plug it into your telly, or in my case, a home entertainment system.
Once you've done that, you will be able to stream all of the music stored on your Mac and play it anywhere in the house. Equally, you can do the same with photos, showing them on the TV or playing movies downloaded through iTunes.
Once you've linked it all up, Apple TV creates what we call a shared file, which means you can play everything on your computer without actually having to have the machine close to you.
Sadly, I think it is the expense that puts people off. But it is one of those gadgets you don't know how much you're going to need and use until you buy it.
I also find a lot of people seem to be a little bit scared of Apple products. It's something different and when people are outside of their comfort zone, they panic. That's why we're here though, to calm them down and explain things clearly.
I've been using Apple products for five years now and I've never had a problem with any of them. The level of quality and service when something does actually go wrong is remarkable too.
Apple TV is a truly special piece of technology. People just need to give it a chance and tune in to all its positives.
