Agent Martin Dix - Gadgets

Tasty Adventures StreetSurfer

 Permanent link

Wow, it’s been quite some time since I posted on here huh?! Sorry for the delay guys, but the life of a Geek Squad Agent is never a quiet one.

I was watching the Gadget Show last night, as any self-respecting geek should, as they demonstrated a very weird travel contraption known as the StreetSurfer. Tasty Adventures, the makes of the StreetSurfer, have created what looks like a bicycle but with a roller-skate as the front wheel. Having a sturdy 4-wheel platform at the front has been designed to help the bike corner more tightly and with more stability. Four pivot points ensure all the front wheels stay firmly on the ground, and although they’re smaller, will grip a whole lot better than a single wheel.  The rest of the bike is slightly more conventional. The back end only has the one wheel, but it does use a pivotal suspension system, which you will find on some mountain bikes.

The makers claim that you can even attempt stunts on the StreetSurfer, which says a lot for it’s build quality. Having broken numerous high-quality, heavy duty BMX components through the years, I can’t help but be dubious of these claims, but I see no harm in popping a few wheelies or some gentle skatepark action!

The StreetSurfer definitely caught my attention and my imagination in terms of its usability. As a travelling tool to get around town, where you have to zip in and around twisty bends, the StreetSurfer seems perfect whilst being great fun at the same time. It’s a great concept and it definitely has its uses but I think I’ll be sticking with the two wheels for now
