I recently came into contact with a Samsung NV24HD digital camera and have been testing it for the last couple of weeks. I'm not going to talk too much about the specs because I suspect they will bore you and you can find them all easily enough on the Samsung website.
What I will tell you is that this titchy little snapper is capable of shooting 720p high definition moving footage at 30fps, quite impressive quality for a typical “point-and-shoot” camera. What you do have to remember is that high definition files take up quite a lot of space, so I would recommend using at least a 2GB SD card in the camera to ensure you have enough storage space.
The NV24HD adopts a 24-86.5mm (film equivalent) super-wide-angle lens, which gives a sort of reduced fish eye effects. It's not so evident when shooting from far away but close up there is noticeable curve to the edges of the images. I'm reluctant to call this effect distortion because its a feature of the camera, it's meant to be a wide-angle camera so you should expect it to happen, but admittedly wide-angle lenses do not suit every type of photograph you could possibly take.
The menu system is quirky, but ingeniously designed. There are touch sensitive buttons around the display screen that activate various commands and features. This system of having multiple buttons means that you never have to deviate away from the shooting screen to change settings. It was a little tricky to get used to at first, but as with most things, you do eventually get used to it.
