Apple has offered free iPhone 4 Bumper cases to owners of the new smartphone.

Apple boss Steve Jobs announced the move on Friday night at a press conference in San Francisco.

You've probably read about all the complaints by iPhone 4 owners moaning that if they hold the handset in the wrong way, the reception on the phone drops.

The antenna in the latest version of the device is now placed in a stainless steel band around the edge of the product.

So when you touch it in certain places with your fingers, the signal bars on the screen begin to drop.

Some people have said that this leads to dropped calls and problems with data coverage.

Placing the Bumper over the phone covers the stainless steel band and helps prevent the so-called "Death Grip".

If you've already bought a Bumper, just take your receipt to an Apple store and they will refund you the cash.

Otherwise, you will soon be able to register on Apple's site to be sent your freebie.
