What I love is no two days as an Agent are ever the same. The variety of jobs at Geek Squad is brilliant and really keeps you on your toes. It's certainly not your average office job.
Geek Squad, Technology and Me!
- I've been complemented on my humour...
...seriously. The best thing about being an Agent is when you get a sense of the customer satisfaction. When that happens, we often say we feel like mini superheroes. It's great getting to the bottom of a problem. Another important part of my role is reassuring customers that technology isn't against them, and again, when you manage to do that, it feels brilliant. - We feel like superheroes at times...

...at the home of a customer with two very small kids. The problem was that the laptop would turn off regularly for no particular reason. When I began fiddling with it I noticed that there was a loud rattling coming from the computer and at first I assumed some internal part had come loose. The next thing I know, out pops a two pence piece that was trapped in the motherboard. I think the parents knew who the culprits were!
Essential Gadget
Slingbox
It's fantastic kit. You can watch your TV from other devices. It's really revolutionary.
Favourite Gadget
iPod Touch
It's a toss-up between this and a MacBook Pro but the touch does so much more than just play music.
I'd recommend...
Xbox 360
I'm really into Mac stuff, but I love my BlackBerry too. They're straight forward and do so much.
Watch out for...
Apple products
I've always been technically-minded and had a passion for computing, but I suppose Macs are my speciality. I personally prefer them to PCs as they seem to be less prone to software problems. Plus I think they're easier to pick-up and learn from scratch. Apple always release new products every few months, which makes life exciting. What with the iPad and new iPhone, 2010 is going to be a very busy and exciting year for Apple.
My most satisfying Geek Squad moment...
...doing home visits. They are really enjoyable and usually I'd spend about two hours per call. That time could be taken up doing anything from setting up the internet and wireless settings to undertaking advanced diagnostic and repair on machines looking at both hardware and software problems.
WE CARE ABOUT TECHNOLOGY AND ABOUT YOU
Having a passion for computing and a job like this means it's nice to be able to use that enthusiasm for the greater good - helping our customers get the most from their technology.
