I've never had a day where I've got bored doing this job. I love technology and love talking to people. This is the perfect role for me. As Geek Squad gets bigger, I can't wait to deal with more problems.

Geek Squad, Technology and Me!

  • The strangest call I ever had was...
...with a man who seemed afraid to take his phone back to the shop. It was a new phone out of the box and was clearly faulty. As it was brand-new, the best advice we could give was to take it back and get a new one, but he seemed too frightened to. The call was more about calming him down and persuading him that this was his best option.
  • Internet research is vital in this job...
...because whenever I'm not on a call I'm on the internet searching for new ways of solving problems, or reading about the latest technological trends. It's vital that we're allowed to do this in-between calls, it helps a lot.

I completely rely on it. I use it on almost every journey I make, even if I know where I'm going.

The second a proper practical electric car comes out, we'll all need one. I can't wait for mine.

It's a really interesting gadget to learn about, and easy to take apart and see how it works.

Super long-life batteries

New Nokia phones are already using this technology, where you can charge a Nokia and it will last you, maybe, up to a week. However, that's just the tip of the iceberg. In Japan they're looking into this super-cell battery technology, where you can charge a phone for four hours and it will last you a couple of months. That's very exciting, not only for things like phones and laptops, but for electric cars too.

My most satisfying Geek Squad moment...

...just being able to give someone at the end of their wits a really satisfying answer to their difficult problem. People can call up really stressed, angry and confused and you have two parts to the problem then. You have to calm them down first, and then solve the tech problem next.

WE CARE ABOUT TECHNOLOGY AND ABOUT YOU

We're all a good bunch of people. We have to be really calm, and treat people in a relaxed manner. In all these years of working here, I haven't had anyone shout down the phone at me yet. I think that's down to my calm nature.
